A three-day intensive training workshop on negotiations in Trade in Services was conducted for the PNG trade-related stakeholders from 29 Nov to 1 Dec 2016 just out Port Moresby. The workshop covered major topics on trade in services negotiations, including concepts in services trade negotiations; scheduling commitments in services trade agreements; PNG’s existing services commitments in the WTO and its various trade agreements; negotiating tools for formulating services sector strategy. The training workshop also included sessions on how to engage with partners such as the EU, among others. Participants were practical exercises to do at the end of each working day in working groups, to test their knowledge and application of the concepts.

The training was facilitated by Dr Claudius Preville, the Key Expert for Component 2 of the TRA 2 Programme. The 25 participants that went through the intensive training programme will be awarded certificates by the Secretary of Trade, Commerce and Industry, Mr John Andreas, on 12th December 2016.
