As a team we are committed to developing policy that is brought together through a consultative and well researched approach and that serves the best interests of PNG. Through the assistance of the EU TRA 2 project, we are really delighted that the first National Trade Policy was approved by the National Executive Council in April 2017 and launched by the Deputy Prime Minister, Honourable Charles Abel in August 2017. This is indeed a most incredible achievement for our country and for our project.

Much work has yet to be done in developing the regulatory and legislative frameworks required to support the effective and efficient implementation of the National Trade Policy, including the enactment of the National Trade Act which sees the creation of a single competent authority – the National Trade Office – carrying the lead mandate for all matters trade-related.

We will use this page to keep you informed on progress in these areas.
